I introduced my son to the beautiful world of books when he was less then a few months old and trust me it was one of my best decisions ever. It had a great role to play in moulding him into a little bibliophile that he is. Among the very first books that I introduced to him were these amazing touch and feel books which he feel in love with instantly. He loved these books more than his toys!! Yes, you heard it right!!
So here is a list of benefits of touch and feel books.
5 Benefits of a touch and feel book :
Helps develop sensory awareness: Babies explore the world by touching so these books are a great start to their sensory awareness journey. These books are best for new moms who want to introduce their babies to sensory activities but dont know where to start.
Increases hand eye coordination: The various textures, flaps , surfaces, furs , mirrors , colorful patterns present in the book captures babies interest and when they try to touch and feel these surfaces , it increases the hand eye coordination which is a very important skill for the babies to master.
Increases vocabulary: Babies associate textures in these book with words And remember any new word introduced to them easily. My son could identify and remember words better when they were introduced via a touch and feel book.
Makes reading fun: A study showed that babies who were introduced to touch and feel books at an early age developed a keen interest in reading. So parents who want their kids to fall in love with reading, these books are for you and I'm saying this from my personal experience. My 3year old is a budding reading enthusiast.
Its safe: So first thing that comes to our mind when we introduce anything new to our babies is that if it's safe or not. Well these books are extremely safe because they have rounder edges and thicker pages. So you can give your baby the book and let him/her enjoy the sensory experience.
In addition to all these benefits , another amazing benefit is that it gives the perfect #bonding time for the parent which in the long run becomes a parent-child ritual.
